NTPC Koldam Bilaspur

With the start of reservoir impounding today Koldam, the flagship Hydro Power Project of NTPC shall be ready to generate power by year 2014-15. Koldam project with an installed capacity of 800 MW ( 4x200 MW) will provide the much needed peaking capacity to the Northern grid and annually generate 3054 GWh electricity at 90% dependable year basis. NTPC took up implementation of its first hydro venture-Koldam Hydro Power Project on river Satluj in distt. Gurudwara Ponta Sahib Sirmour

Gurudwara Paonta Sahib, is a noted Gurudwara in Paonta Sahib, District of Sirmour, Himachal Pradesh. This Gurdwara was built in memory of Guru Gobind Singh ji, the tenth guru of sikhs[1]. The Gurdwara enjoys a high historic and religious importance among the followers of the Sikh religion world over. The Gurudwara have a palanquin "Palki" made of pure gold, donated by devotees. Shri Talab Asthan and Shri Dastar Asthan are the vital places inside the Sikh shrine. Shri Talab Asthan is used for disbursing salaries and Shri Dastar Asthan is used for organizing the turban tying competitions. Kandoor bridge Bilaspur

Kandrour Bridge The very beautiful and fascinating Kandrour Bridge is 8 kilometers from Bilaspur on National Highway No-88. It is across the river Satluj. Its construction was started in April,1959 and was completed in 1965. The span of the bridge is about 280 meters with a breadth of about seven meters and the height above the lowest river bed below is about 80 meters, making it one of the highest bridge in the world. It is ranked first in Asia for its height. It has provided a link between Bilaspur, Ghumarwin and Hamirpur district, and is a marvelous engineering feat. The pillars supporting the bridge are hollowed.

Baba Balaknath Temple Bilaspur

Bilaspur was the capital of a state of the same name founded in the 7th century, also known as Kahlur. The ruling dynasty were Chandel Rajputs, who claimed descent from the rulers of Chanderi in present-day Madhya Pradesh. The town of Bilaspur was founded in 1663. The state later became a princely state of British India, and was under the authority of the British province of Punjab. On 13 May 1665, Guru Tegh Bahadur went to Bilaspur to attend the mourning and funeral ceremonies for Raja Dip Chand of Bilaspur. Rani Champa of Bilaspur made an offer to the Guru of a piece of land in her state, which the Guru accepted at the cost of 500 rupees. The land consisted of the villages of Lodhipur, Mianpur, and Sahota. Guru Tegh Bahadur broke ground on a new settlement on 19 June 1665, which he named Nanaki after his mother. GURUDWARA SHRI GURU KA LAHORE is situated in the village Basantpur in Distt Billaspur. of Himachal Pradesh. Its situated on the border of Himachal Pardesh only 12 km from Shri Anandpur Sahib. Bhai Hari Jas ji father of SHRI MATA JITO JI came to Chak Nanaki ( Shri Anandpur Sahib) for getting Marriage fixed up with SHRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI (Engagement had already been done during the life time of SHRI GURU TEG BAHADUR JI) But the elders didn't agreed on barats going to lahore. So SHRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI proposed that we shall create lahore here and MATA JITO JI's family may come here and marriage ceremony may take place. later a little lahore was setup which exactly resembled to the nine Bazaars of lahore in village Basantnagar. And finally GURU SAHIBS marriage was performed here.

Govindsagar Lake Bilaspur

Gobind Sagar Lake is a Reservoir situated in Una and Bilaspur districts of Himachal Pradesh.[2] It is formed by the Bhakra Dam. The Reservoirs is on the River Sutlej and is named in honour of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh guru. One of the world's highest gravity dams, the Bhakra dam rises nearly 225.5 m above its lowest foundations. Under the supervision of the American dam-builder, Harvey Slocum,[3] work began in the year of 1955 and was completed in 1962. To maintain the level of water, the flow of river Beas was channelized to Gobind Sagar by the Beas-Sutlej link which was accomplished in 1976. The reservoir lies in the Bilaspur District and Una District. Bilaspur is about 91 km away from the Bhakra Dam.[5] Its name given by Former Chairman of PSEB SardarJi Harbans Singh Somal, in honor of 10th Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
